Long gone are the days when body piercing is considered taboo.  This form of art, expressed by piercing the body with metal is now considered even mainstream.  Many of today’s so-called business men and women may have piercing hidden under their clothing that one may be surprised about. What has changed a lot and what is now usually very regulated is the hygiene regulations regarding piercing.  Sterilization is a must and shops can lose their licenses to operate if found in contempt of the rules.  When a person opts to have a piercing done at a reputable business, they can rest assured that it is relatively safe.  The most common reaction can be infection; however this often happens if the customer does not follow the instructions of the piercer.  What one person feels is best is not necessarily the recommended course of action when keeping a piercing clean.  A reputable shop will give the customer a document that states exactly how to keep care of a piercing.

Forget about the pain; this will vary from person to person.  The only thing that is consistent regarding female piercing is that mainstream society is accepting it, appreciating it for an art form and many actually expect a young woman to have one!
